On Saturday 8 November we will be launching the sale of community shares in Farmborough Community Shop Ltd. This is an opportunity for local people and organisations to contribute financially, long-term, to a community shop in Farmborough
We are looking to raise at least £50,000, with the aim to reach £150,000; an ambitious target but required for us to progress and gain matched funding through grants.
Anyone aged 18 or over can become a member of the Society by investing from as little as £10, but each applicant can apply for any number of shares up to a maximum value of £20,000. UK tax payers will also be eligible for tax relief at 50% of the value of shares purchased under Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS).
Find out more about where the shop will be and what it could potentially look like, and learn about becoming a member (shareholder) to financially support your local shop, by attending one of our special launch events at the following places and times:
- Farmborough All Saints Church: Saturday 8 November: 10.30am – 1pm
- Priston Village Hall: Saturday 15 November: 11am – 12 noon
- Farmborough Memorial Hall: Saturday 15 November: 2pm – 4pm
- Farmborough Memorial Hall: Tuesday 18 November: 7.30pm – 9pm
At all these events we will be presenting our plans for the shop and giving details about the community share offer, as well as being available to answer questions, assist with share applications and provide further information.
Included in our display will be several illustrations and outline sketches of the shop drawn by local architects Nash Partnership, with whom we have been working closely to complete a briefing document, feasibility study and pre-application. We hope these drawings will allow everyone to gain an idea of how the shop might look, while helping to bring it to life.
The first event will be a coffee morning on Saturday 8 November at Farmborough All Saints Church from 10.30am to 1pm, so come along for a cuppa and some cake and use this opportunity to browse our display and ask any questions you might have about the shop.
