Free WiFi for our customers – can you help us to receive an ultra-fast broadband connection?

24 April 2018 by admin

We are pleased to announce that along with the primary school and Memorial Hall, TrueSpeed has offered a FREE for LIFE ultra-fast broadband connection to the Community Shop.

The shop is already committed to providing free WiFi to our customers from the day we open, but with TrueSpeed, our connection will become over 20 times faster than what we will be able to provide through a standard BT line.

However, we will only receive this connection if 30% of the village sign up to TrueSpeed too. Currently, around 60 more households are needed to reach this target. Can you help us get there?

Believe it or not, there are households in Farmborough receiving broadband speeds as low as 3mb/s

Many of us run businesses from our homes, have the opportunity to work from home instead of driving to the office, have children who need to carry out online homework assignments, or have another need for a stable and speedy internet connection such as Skype-calling, uploading photos, watching ‘on-demand’ TV, updating software, playing online games, or accessing files we store in ‘the cloud’.

Some of us are fortunate enough to have a connection that allows us to do all or many of these things, but for others in our village, the situation is not so rosy.

So if you’re sick and tired of your broadband speed, a connection that continually drops in and out, or poor service from BT, you may be interested in switching to TrueSpeed.

Who or what is TrueSpeed?

TrueSpeed is a local company based in the nearby village of Newton St Loe that is proud to be unlike any other broadband provider both in the service they provide and their company ethos.

They’re passionate about investing in communities and are committed to building brand new 100% fibre broadband networks that will provide ultrafast, reliable broadband to as many people as possible by connecting homes, businesses and community hubs.

They install fibre direct to the property, guaranteeing broadband speeds of 200Mb/s upload and download no matter what time of the day or night.

Who can get it?

Villages are being approached one by one, with Priston, Compton Dando, and Burnett already connected (amongst many others), and Bishop Sutton, Hallatrow and Clutton in the process of being connected. Farmborough could be next, with your help.

How do you get it?

Interest from around 30% of all households/businesses in Farmborough is required for the build to go ahead. Farmborough currently needs around 60 more households to sign-up in order to reach this target.

If reached, then Farmborough will be connected within six months, including FREE broadband for LIFE for the Memorial Hall, Primary School and Community Shop – no strings attached.

Free installation offer (worth £120)

Those households in the first 30% to sign up and place an order will receive a FREE standard installation, normally costing £120.

You can signup online or come along to the community pub drop-in event on Wednesday 25 April at The Butchers Arms from 5pm to 8pm. Drop in for a chat and ask any questions before you make a decision, in return for a free drink.

What if you’re in a contract?

If you are in a contract with your existing telephone/broadband provider you can still sign up and receive the free standard install and your application will count towards the build threshold of 30%.

Can you help us?

We think this is a great opportunity for both individual households and the community as a whole. So let’s think about the future of our village and leave a positive legacy for generations to come!

For more information, contact Neil Rogers (TrueSpeed) on 01225 300 370, visit the TrueSpeed website, or come to the community pub drop-in event on Wednesday 25 April at The Butchers Arms from 5pmto 8pm. There will be a free drink for everyone attending.
